134 Students Benefit from LAPO Scholarship Scheme

LAPO MfB has reaffirmed its commitment to improving lives as it awards Scholarships to 134 qualified clients’ children thus bringing the total figure of beneficiaries to 3,134 since inception.

Since 2007, about 3, 134 beneficiaries have so far accessed the LAPO Scholarship Funds in the various categories. Beneficiaries of the awards are drawn from all areas of operations of LAPO Microfinance Bank through a Ballot exercise.

LAPO educates Students Nationwide in Celebration of World Savings Day.

On the occasion of the World Savings Day celebrated annually on October 31, and as a part of the financial education program, which has been implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria, LAPO MfB carried out sensitization programme for secondary and primary school students across thirty three states in Nigeria.

LAPO MfB Gets ISO 27001 Certification

LAPO MfB has obtained ISO 27001:2013 certification for Information Security Management by Professional Evaluation Certification Board, (PECB)

The ISO 27001:2013 of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an Information Security Management System (ISMS) within the organization.

The certification is a testimony to LAPO Microfinance Bank’s commitment and adherence to the highest standards in information security management.

LAPO Wins Outstanding Female Centric Microfinance Bank of the Year Award.

LAPO has been recognized at the 2019 Women in Marketing Communications Award (WIMCA) as the Outstanding Female Centric Microfinance Bank of the Year.

The Award was in recognition of LAPO’s support in balancing the workplace and empowering women in Nigeria. Speaking on behalf of WIMCA, the Convener,  Joshua Ajayi stated that “the award as the Outstanding Female Centric Microfinance Bank of the Year Award was a product of pain-staking review and assessment of LAPO’s  indisputable contributions in the microfinance industry especially in the area of women empowerment.”

LAPO Bags BAFI Awards

LAPO Microfinance Bank Limited has been adjudged the ‘Microfinance Bank of the Year’ in Nigeria. The award was presented to the bank during the 7th Annual BusinessDay Banks and other Financial Institutions Awards (BAFI) in Lagos.

While receiving the award, the Managing Director, Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe noted that the award is a clear indication that the innovative processes and products that the bank has been working hard for since inception are yielding positive results,” he said.

LAPO Hosts First Microfinance Sustainable Finance Conference

LAPO MfB championed the course for sustainable financing in the microfinance sector when it hosted the first Sustainable Finance Conference in Lagos recently in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Banking on Values.

The conference with the theme, ‘Enhancing Sustainable Finance in the Microfinance Subsector,’ aimed to promote the practice of sustainable finance and banking values especially among microfinance banks.

LAPO MfB decries high cost of education, gives 3,004 scholarships

LAPO Microfinance Bank (MfB) has lamented the increasing cost of access to quality education, which is depriving children from low-income households. The managing director, Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe, expressed the concern yesterday during LAPO MfB 2018 Scholarship and Skills Acquisition Awards ceremony in Benin City, Edo State.



A communiqué issued at the end of the 25th Annual LAPO Development Forum held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos State on Friday, August 24th 2018, under the theme: Towards Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation of Nigeria: Options for Non-State Intervention.




Presently, over 60 Thrift Collectors have been deployed to collect as little as N200 daily deposits from clients in the pilot States.

So far, a considerable number of clients have registered as depositors owing to the use of digital devices utilized by the Collectors which enable depositors to get real time alerts and also a receipt after every deposit in the comfort of their homes or business place.

The LAPO Thrift Collection is a convenient means for clients to save money.
