LAPO MfB Hosts 2017 Scholarship & Skills Awards Ceremony

LAPO MfB has reaffirmed its commitment to improving lives as it awards Scholarships to 1,084 qualified clients’ children.

The Chairperson, LAPO Scholarship Board, Professor Christiana Okojie commended the organization for sustaining the programme and for its immense support to the less privileged.

Speaking at the ceremony in Benin City, MD/CEO of LAPO MfB, Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe who was represented by Mr. Moses Ehigiamusoe, appealed for support from corporate organizations and development-focused individuals in the drive to provide indigent students with educational empowerment and scholarship.

The Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. David Osifo, who was represented by Dr.IzeleAsogun,a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, appreciated LAPO for the initiative and pleaded for more support for such laudable projects.

Since 2007, about 8, 140 beneficiaries have so far accessed the LAPO Scholarship Funds in the Secondary and University Education.Beneficiaries of the awards are drawn from all areas of operations of LAPO Microfinance Bank through a Ballot exercise.

The Skills AcquisitionSchemeempowers Clients’ children who desire to acquire vocational skills. Since its inception, the LAPO Skills Acquisition Scheme has trained 137 teenagers in skills such as Tailoring, Catering etc. This year,68 beneficiaries of the Jan-June batch graduated from the scheme at the Award Ceremony.
