1. LAPO MicroInvestment Support Services (MISS)

It is a profit making organization for  promoting investment and acquisition of income generating asset among beneficiaries.

2. LAPO Development Foundation (LDF)

LAPO Development Foundation (LDF) is a sister organization of LAPO, it brings innovations into the fight against poverty via the implementation of social and health empowerment programmes which addresses issues on ignorance, low self esteem, poor nutrition, ill health, discrimination, injustice, gender in-equality and other entrenched obnoxious socio-cultural practices. This constrains the realization of women’s full potentials and enjoyment of a good life. Conduct investigation and carry out survey on pertinent health problems in various communities.

LDF execute these programmes through the following departments:

LAPO Development Centre (LADEC): LADEC was initiated in 1996 with the mandate of socially alleviating poverty of rural dwellers and communities through non-credit activities. Its objectives are to:

  • Empower LAPO members to effectively participate in the informal sector.
  • Promote equal gender relations at family and community levels.
  • Promote political participation among women.
  • Create a better understanding of development and promote sustainable development practices.
  • Promote environment enhancing practices in communities.
  • Document and provide information on issues related to development, poverty and gender.

LAPO Health: LAPO Health implements health programmes of LAPODevelopment Foundation (LDF) in various communities across Nigeria. It focuseson Promoting Sexual, Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS Reduction (PSRHH),Economic Empowerment and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS(PMTCT) programmes.

Research and Documentation (R & D): The Research and Documentation Department is an arm of the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit. It activities includes gathering, processing, storing information, monitors programmes, projects/activities geared towards effective programme delivery and impact assessment.

Information and Advocacy: This department projects a positive image of LAPO and its subsidiaries to the outside public by building sustainable relationships with the media and development partners within and outside the country. The overall goal is to present LAPO as a formidable, socially responsible organization in the forefront of the war against poverty in Nigeria. The department also advocates for the poor and the marginalized to bring about desired changes in their lives and communities. The vital tools employed by the department to achieve its objectives include Publications, Media Relations, Press Releases, Bridging the gap a TV programme, Advocacy and Networking through collaboration with government agencies, civil society groups, Faith-based organizations, political parties, the media and other organizations with similar objectives.

3. LAPO Development Services Limited

It is an enterprise development company,which provides institutional support services. The company draws on the experience and expertise of LAPO – an innovative microfinance institution.

Services

The company provides two broad categories of services:

Staff Development Services.  This capacity enhancement for core staff of microfinance institutions and allied programmes.

Technical Assistance.  The company assists programmes and institutions design, implement and evaluate various forms of microfinance schemes.

4. LAPO Agricultural and Rural Development Initiative (LARDI)

LARDI is a subsidiary of LAPO established in May, 2007. It was officially flagged off on 16th October, 2007 with the mandate of addressing challenges that affects the rural economy. It is designed to improve the quality of life of rural dwellers through committed support for the livelihood activities. It is expected in the long-run to energize rural economy through massive extension services to be delivered in highly participatory manner. The objectives are as follows:

  • To facilitate access to vital farming information and inputs
  • To improve nutritional status of rural households
  • Generate employment for youths
  • To facilitate access to markets for produce of beneficiaries

5. Lift Microfinance Bank Ltd

It provides opportunities for capital building through savings and credit facilities for micro enterprises. The bank has developed credit and savings products responsive to the financial needs of small and microenterprises especially those managed by women.

6. LAPO Capital Limited

LAPO Capital Limited was incorporated with Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990 on the 3rd of October 2007. it commenced full operation with disbursement of credit facilities for the purchase of shares on behalf of 16 clients on the 9th of May, 2008. The growthin operational activities of LAPO Capital Limited gives credence to the fact that the company has a great prospect.

Objectives

LAPO Capital Limited was incorporated to:

  • Provide opportunities for poor women to acquire shares in profitable companies and thereby earn income and benefit from capital appreciation over time.
  • Provide investment services to LAPO Microfinance and its subsidiaries.
  • Initiate and implement the process of setting up a Mutual Fund with the LAPO Group.
  • Engage in equipment financing and other related investment activities.

Activities/Operations

LAPO Capital Limited to realize its objectives shall engage in the following activities amongst others:

  • Mobilize and train clients of LAPO on the essence of acquisition of shares/stocks
  • Produce and periodically review operational procedures for Credit-for-shares product.
  • Relate with relevant units of LAPO for the purpose of credit for share purchase by women
  • Relate with finance departments of LAPO andits subsidiaries for the purpose of accessing for investment
  • Set in motion the process of setting up a Mutual Fund within LAPO
  • Provide investment services to LAPO staff and persons who shall express interest in LAPO Capital services
  • Carry out all activities relating to acquisition, processing and sales of stocks
  • Relates with identified Stock Brokers for the purpose of carrying out activities relating to acquisition, processing and sales of stock
